  • Christopher Robin Day Nurseries participate in the government voucher scheme for three and four-year olds.
  • There is a 15% discount on the standard daily rate for the second or subsequent child attending nursery at the same time.
  • There is no extra charge for meals, but formula feed for babies should be provided by the parents.
  • Although there is no minimum number of days each child must attend each week, we strongly recommend that a child attends nursery for a minimum of 2 full days. This is in order to help them settle and feel comfortable at the nursery.
  • The nurseries are closed on statutory bank holidays (currently 8 per year) and we do not charge for these days.
  • If your child is sick and unable to attend nursery we will, where possible, offer an alternative day within the same week free of charge, although we are not able to guarantee this.

Financial support with childcare costs

There are various schemes to help with childcare costs, such as childcare vouchers and tax credits, as well as the Government's Free Nursery Education scheme for children aged three to five years old.

1. Childcare Vouchers

These are offered by a number of employers and allow you to take advantage of a salary sacrifice scheme that can reduce your tax and National Insurance contributions. Up to £243 per month can be deducted from your salary before other deductions. If both parents work both can benefit if their employers offer childcare vouchers. The vouchers come in both paper and electronic format and once they have been submitted their value is deducted from your monthly invoice.

If you receive tax credits the amount your are eligible for may be affected by using childcare vouchers. To check how this will affect you there is a free online calculator at www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/ccin.htm.

Changes to this scheme take effect from April 2011. Visit HMRC for more information at www.hmrc.gov.uk/thelibrary/esc-qa.htm.

2. Free Nursery Education

Children aged between three and five years are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year in the term following their third birthday. Our nursery managers will be delighted to discuss the free education sessions we are able to offer. Further information can be found on the Surrey Family Information Services website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/fis.

3. Tax Credits

Tax credits are available as financial support towards the cost of childcare for some families in the form of Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits. To find out if you are eligible for tax credits visit www.hmrc.gov.uk/TAXCREDITS/start/who-qualifies/index.htm or call the Tax Credit helpline on 0845 300 3900.

The amount you can claim as tax credits may be affected if you also use childcare vouchers. HMRC have a useful 'better off calculator' at www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/ccin.htm - use this to identify if you are one of those that will be worse off by getting childcare vouchers.

4. Teenage Parents

Teenage parents still in full time education are able to claim financial support from the Care to Learn scheme. Currently the scheme will pay up to £160 a week and all payments are made directly to the nursery.

For more information about Care to Learn visit: http://caretolearn.ypla.gov.uk.

5. Students

Through the Childcare Grant, full-time higher education students with children in registered childcare could receive financial support for up to 85% of childcare costs - this is dependent on a number of factors.

For more information on the Childcare Grant visit the direct.gov website.

6. Additional financial help for low income families

Childcare support is available for low income families. Click here for more information.
