Our Nurseries

Christopher Robin differs from other nursery groups in a number of ways. Here are just a few examples of what makes our nurseries so special.

Wonderful people make a wonderful nursery

We understand that a nursery can only ever be as good as its staff. Our staff are chosen not only for their qualifications and experience but also for their affinity with children, their enthusiasm and their commitment to providing a high quality professional service.

Our Nurseries

Our staff hold a range of qualifications. These include NVQs (at levels 2, 3 and 4), Montessori Training Certificates, Early Years Diplomas, Early Years and Primary Teaching degrees and post graduate qualifications. All of our staff hold an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, and are also trained in Paediatric First Aid within the first 6 months of joining Christopher Robin, with regular refresher courses.

We're particularly proud of the number of long-serving staff we have across the nurseries who have been with us between 5 and 20 years.

Fun, French and First Aid

In addition to all the fun of a typical day at Christopher Robin, when your child joins the oldest group in the nursery (the class prior to starting BIG school), they will have the opportunity to learn to speak French. We offer French, free of charge, to every child in the oldest class who attends the nursery on the day that the session is delivered.

Every year we organise a parents' Paediatric First Aid Course for those that are interested. During the sessions we provide a free crèche for the children who attend nursery as well as their siblings so that as many parents as possible are able to attend.

At Christopher Robin we believe that nutrition is a crucially important part of a child's development.

Breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, early afternoon snack and afternoon tea are all included in the fees. Our menus are nutritionally balanced and as additive-free as possible. Fresh fruit is served every day, and most special dietary needs can be catered for. From stocks and soups to roast lunches, all our food is freshly prepared and cooked from scratch in state-of-the-art kitchens run by our caterers, Care Catering. Care Catering only supplies to children's day nurseries, so providing nutritionally-balanced, delicious food for children is at the heart of everything they do.

The staff at Care Catering take great pride in the quality of their food. They use only free-range, organic or locally sourced suppliers, and the menus include the recommended five daily portions of fresh fruit and vegetables. Food provided for children with special dietary requirements is made to look as much like the other children's meals as possible so that no child feels left out. A sample menu can be downloaded here. Visit the website at www.carecatering.co.uk.

We're delighted to report that the children love the taste, and the parents love the quality. Mealtimes at Christopher Robin are definitely a social occasion; members of staff join the children at the table to encourage them to try everything, and the children tend to develop healthy appetites for a wide range of foods. Staff also encourage children to develop social skills and good manners.

Ofsted and other accolades

We have a record of exceptional results in our Ofsted inspection outcomes. The full reports can be accessed here: (Woking) (Burpham)(Wood Street Village) (Cranleigh) and (Merrow) <-- (now closed, the staff team have moved to London Road).

We were delighted to have been finalists for Nursery World's highly prestigious Nursery Chain of the Year Award in 2011.

Every one of our nurseries not only meets but also exceeds all of the legislative requirements for space, staff qualifications and staff ratio.

Only 4% of UK nurseries have achieved the 'Investors in People' award. Christopher Robin Day Nurseries is one of those 4%, and we are proud to have maintained recognition of the award since 2002.

Our nurseries participate in and benefit from a number of local authority initiatives such as the Surrey Quality Improvement Award, the Home Learning Project and the Baby Room Project. Being part of these initiatives allows us to stay in the forefront of best pracitce and innovation.
